Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this role, you should have:
- Grade 10 education
- Valid Code C, EC, or EC1(14) driver’s license with a Professional Driving Permit (PrDP)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- At least 1 year of experience as a bus or truck driver
Core Responsibilities
As a Bus Driver, you will:
- Operate Council buses on approved routes, ensuring timely and safe transport for passengers
- Conduct pre- and post-shift bus inspections and report any defects
- Ensure commuters pay approved tariffs and verify the ticketing system is operational
- Maintain accurate trip journals and submit them at the end of each shift
- Communicate with passengers about bus schedules, tariffs, and bus coupon validity
- Report route issues, accidents, and complete necessary documentation for investigations
- Uphold order on the bus and maintain courteous interactions with passengers and the public
