Clover South Africa, in partnership with the YES (Youth Employment Service) Programme, invites unemployed youth to apply for the YES Learner (Merchandiser) Programme 2026. This opportunity offers 12 months of paid workplace experience within Clover’s Sales Execution environment, helping young South Africans gain valuable retail and merchandising skills.

📌 Programme Overview

The YES Learner (Merchandiser) programme is designed to:

  • Provide practical merchandising and retail experience

  • Improve youth employability through structured workplace exposure

  • Develop stock control, sales execution, and customer engagement skills

  • Support youth participation in the formal economy through the YES initiative

Learners will be placed at various Clover branches nationwide.


📍 Work Locations

Positions are available across Clover branches, including:

  • Clayville (Gauteng)

  • CDC Cape Town (Western Cape)

  • Bloemfontein (Free State)

  • Port Elizabeth / Gqeberha (Eastern Cape)

  • Queensburgh (KwaZulu-Natal)

  • Other national locations


🎓 Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent (NQF Level 4)

  • Fluent in Business English

  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays

  • Must be unemployed youth (YES Programme criteria apply)

🧾 Duties & Responsibilities

Stock Control & Merchandising

  • Control and order stock in-store and in back-up areas

  • Apply correct stock control measures where Clover stock is handled

  • Minimise and process returns according to store work plans

  • Prevent out-of-stock situations and report incidents to the Area Manager

  • Place accurate and timeous orders according to ordering tempo

  • Ensure shelves are fully stocked, clean, and neatly packed

  • Maintain correct crate and equipment control

Shelf & Display Management

  • Apply correct shelf control according to store and shelf plans

  • Pack shelves according to Store Flow and merchandising principles

  • Maintain fridge and cold storage areas in good condition

  • Maintain shelf layouts as per planograms (plannos)

  • Ensure correct price indicator (PI) labels per product

  • Place and maintain point-of-sale (POS) material correctly

Administration & Relationships

  • Maintain relevant merchandising administration

  • Identify opportunities to improve product visibility in-store

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with store management, customers, Area Managers, Head Office, and fellow merchandisers
