The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) has officially opened applications for its 24-month Internship Programme for the 2026–2028 cycle.
This large government recruitment programme aims to provide valuable workplace experience to unemployed South African graduates while helping them gain skills needed in the public sector.
Successful candidates will receive a monthly stipend of R7 860.50 while participating in the programme.

Minimum Requirements
To qualify for the DFFE Internship Programme, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Education
Applicants must have one of the following qualifications:

National Diploma

B-Tech / Advanced Diploma

Bachelor’s Degree

Honours Degree or Postgraduate qualification
The qualification must be relevant to the internship field being applied for.
Citizenship
Applicants must be South African citizens.
Employment Status
Applicants must:

Be currently unemployed

Not have previously participated in a government internship programme.

1. Complete the Z83 Form
Download and complete the new Z83 Application Form introduced on 01 January 2021.
Ensure the form is fully completed, signed and dated.
2. Prepare Your CV
Attach a detailed and updated Curriculum Vitae (CV) with your application.
3. Certification Not Required Initially
You do not need certified copies of documents for the first application stage.
These will only be requested if you are shortlisted.
