Primary Functions

Examination Assistants (District & Head Offices)

  • Receive, check, control, and scan scripts daily, ensuring accurate packing for marking venues.
  • Verify the correct number of scripts and marksheets per batch, subject, paper, and examination session.
  • Address discrepancies in script counts and ensure proper documentation.
  • Tag and pack scripts with correct marking venue labels and MP Flow control lists.
  • Create and manage marking centre files for dispatched scripts.
  • Assist with dispatching scripts to marking venues.
  • Index and archive scripts after marking for easy retrieval.

Quality Assurers (Marking Centres)

  • Receive, control, and distribute scripts to marking teams.
  • Ensure accurate marking by verifying that all questions are marked, marks are correctly added, and transferred to the script’s front cover and marksheet.
  • Address discrepancies in marks and ensure amendments are made by marking teams.
  • Reconcile and arrange scripts per subject, paper, and numerically for archival after marking.
  • Assist with controlling, distributing, and scanning scripts during the marking process.

Minimum Requirements

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Hold a Senior Certificate / National Senior Certificate / National Senior Certificate Vocational (NQF Level 4).
  • Be a registered tertiary student, unemployed person with a tertiary qualification, or an unemployed graduate.
  • Possess numerical skills with Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy at Grade 12 level.
  • Second-year and above tertiary students will have an advantage.
  • Be able to work under pressure due to tight examination deadlines.
  • Previous experience in examinations administration (District Office, Marking Centre, or Office-based) is advantageous.
  • Persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply (proof of disability required).
  • Note: Individuals writing National Senior Certificate/Senior Certificate or AET Examinations in 2025, those who have taken the VSP, or those employed elsewhere are not eligible.
