Job Description
The Department of Employment and Labour invites qualified graduates to apply for the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Internship Programme. This internship offers valuable hands-on experience in promoting workplace health and safety and ensuring compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85 of 1993).
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in conducting workplace inspections to ensure compliance with OHS regulations and standards.
- Provide administrative support to OHS Inspectors.
- Assist in the investigation of workplace incidents and complaints.
- Support inspectors during enforcement procedures.
- Compile and consolidate reports arising from inspections and investigations.
Minimum Requirements
- A three-year tertiary qualification: National Diploma (NQF Level 6) or Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in any of the following fields:
- Environmental Health
- Environmental Science
- Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Chemical, or Construction-related Engineering
- Chemistry / Analytical Chemistry
- Occupational Health / Occupational Hygiene
- Explosives Management / Explosives Engineering
- Mining or Industrial Engineering
Additional Competencies:
- Strong communication and analytical skills.
- Computer literacy (MS Office).
- Ability to work in a team and under supervision.
