Job Description

Seriti is recruiting for a Mining Activity Engineer position at Klipspruit New Largo in Mpumalanga.

This is a permanent mining opportunity for candidates with a National Diploma or Degree in Mining Engineering with an MO Certificate, or relevant underground mining qualifications with recognition and recommendation for prior learning or experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have either:

• National Diploma/Degree in Mining Engineering with MO Certificate

OR

• Relevant underground mining qualifications, with recognition and recommendation for prior learning/experience
• MO Certificate will be advantageous for candidates applying through the second qualification route

Minimum Experience

Applicants must have a minimum of 6 years’ experience, including either:

• 2 years appointed as a Shiftboss in a relevant mining production environment

OR

• 2 years’ relevant experience as a Planning Officer

Additional Requirements

Candidates should have:

• Experience with Mine Planning software, including but not limited to:
  • Deswik
  • XPAC
  • 3D-dig
  • Microstation
  • Talpac
  • Dragsim
• Knowledge of underground mining activities
• Understanding of legislation relating to the mining industry and applicable procedures
• Ability to work under pressure and manage a variable workload
• Willingness and ability to work overtime and weekends when required
• Good analytical capabilities
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• High regard for safety
• Computer literacy
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Valid driver’s licence and own transport
• Valid Certificate of Fitness or ability to obtain one

Advantageous Qualifications

The following will be advantageous:

• Mine Overseer’s Certificate of Competency
• Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency
• Recognition and recommendation for prior learning/experience

Key Responsibilities

The Mining Activity Engineer reports to the Section Manager Planning and will be responsible for:

• Compiling designs, detailed plans and short-term schedules for major mining activities.
• Compiling weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliations as part of compliance-to-plan reporting.
• Supplying required information for weekly marketing and management plans.
• Assisting with presentations for weekly planning review meetings.
• Assisting with monthly planning meetings.
• Liaising with other Activity Engineers regarding the integration of mine plans.
• Working with departments including Survey, Geology, Environmental, Mining, Metallurgy and Engineering.
• Assisting with the annual budget and Life of Mine (LOM) process.
