Job Description
The Border Management Authority (BMA) is inviting suitably qualified candidates to apply for HCM Officer: Employee Health & Wellness (X2 Posts) based in Centurion.
These are permanent positions within Corporate Affairs – Human Capital Management, offering a salary of R475,383.22 – R555,135.01.
Applicants must have Grade 12 (Matric), an NQF Level 7 undergraduate qualification in Psychology or Social Work, and 4 years’ experience in Employee Health & Wellness at supervisory level.

Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must have:

Key Responsibilities
Employee Health & Wellness Management
The successful candidates will assist with:
- Promoting the Employee Health & Wellness Programme within the BMA.
- Implementing BMA Wellness Management programmes.
- Implementing Health and Productivity programmes.
- Implementing HIV/AIDS and TB Management programmes.
- Supporting Safety, Health and Environmental Quality duties relating to Employee Health & Wellness.
- Providing administrative support for Employee Health & Wellness programmes.
- Compiling Employee Health & Wellness reports.
- Assisting with the implementation of BMA health and wellness policies.
- Conducting health and wellness surveys.
- Coordinating wellness programmes based on survey results.
- Coordinating workshops and awareness programmes.
- Promoting the psychosocial wellness of employees.
- Providing interventions aimed at mitigating absenteeism.
- Providing education and awareness on health and wellness issues.
- Monitoring programmes relating to lifestyle diseases and health risks.
- Monitoring and interacting with service providers.
- Supporting HIV/AIDS, TB and STI programmes.
- Coordinating health screening programmes.
- Ensuring employee files are updated and kept confidential.
- Handling routine enquiries from employees and external stakeholders.
Health Screening Programmes
The role may involve coordinating:
- Body Mass Index and obesity screening
- Cardiovascular disease screening
- Voluntary HIV counselling and testing
- Diabetes and glucose screening
- STD health screening
- Other health-related programmes affecting employees
Risk and Compliance
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with mandatory reports and information.
- Preparing reports for management.
- Coordinating and compiling monthly and quarterly reports.
- Tracking commitments and reporting deadlines.
- Maintaining proper document filing.
- Processing documentation according to BMA policies and procedures.
- Supporting fraud controls and risk prevention processes.
- Supporting internal and external audit requirements.
- Maintaining quality risk management standards.
- Monitoring Service Level Agreements.
- Ensuring adherence to relevant legislation, policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
General Administration
The successful candidates will also:
- Receive and manage telephone calls, correspondence and emails.
- Maintain the business unit’s annual meetings planner.
- Coordinate meetings, invitations, logistics, agendas, minutes and supporting materials.
- Assist with compiling reports.
- Capture and maintain relevant information and databases.
- Ensure data integrity.
- Monitor payments relating to unit activities.
- Maintain costing information.
Stakeholder Services
Duties include:
- Liaising with third-party service providers.
- Responding to enquiries.
- Providing support on Health and Wellness deliverables.
- Responding to customer requests and queries within established timeframes.
- Conducting induction and training workshops when required.
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
- Assisting employees with Health and Wellness queries.
Knowledge Required
Applicants should have knowledge and understanding of:
- Integrated Employee Health and Wellness Management
- Psychosocial, physical and organisational wellness
- HIV/AIDS and TB Management in the workplace
- Safety, Health, Environment, Risk and Quality Management
- COIDA processes
- Counselling
- Gender and Disability programmes
- Research methods
- Public Service legislative frameworks, including PSA, PFMA, LRA and PSR
- Bargaining processes and dispute resolution
- Health and Wellness policies, processes and systems
