Brights Hardware is inviting applications for a Sales Person – Plumbing Department position at its Sunningdale branch in the Western Cape.

This is a permanent retail sales opportunity for candidates with plumbing product knowledge and previous sales experience within a hardware environment. Matric or equivalent is advantageous.

Job Overview

Minimum Requirements

Applicants should have:

• Matric or equivalent – advantageous
• 3 years’ sales experience in a Plumbing Department / plumbing product knowledge
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role within a hardware environment
• 5 basic technical supplier competency certificates
• Intermediate-level merchandising standards
• In-house return per square metre standards
• Customer Service Training
• Ability to demonstrate acceptable sales techniques
• Intermediate product knowledge
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

Job Purpose

The Sales Person will assist customers in choosing products that best meet their needs.

The role focuses on delivering good customer service, achieving customer satisfaction, generating sales and promoting sustainable growth in margins and profits.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Attending to customers professionally and helpfully.
• Generating sales while providing excellent customer service.
• Controlling stock levels and conducting regular stock counts.
• Advising customers on suitable products to solve their specific needs.
• Placing stock orders with buyers when necessary.
• Completing relevant administrative tasks.
• Maintaining the customer book and special orders file.
• Forwarding invoices and completing other relevant administrative duties.
• Ensuring merchandising is completed correctly.
• Ensuring products are correctly priced.
• Participating in perpetual stock takes.
• Maintaining good housekeeping within the work area.
• Performing other work-related tasks delegated by a superior.
