Cashbuild is recruiting a Forklift Driver for its Heidedal, Bloemfontein location. The position requires applicants to have Grade 12 or at least one year of work-related experience, together with a valid forklift licence.

The role involves safely operating and maintaining a forklift while supporting customer service, merchandising and housekeeping activities within the store.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 OR a minimum of one year of work-related experience
  • Valid forklift licence
  • Ability to communicate in English and the dominant language spoken in the area
  • Ability to perform basic calculations accurately
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Physical fitness to operate a forklift

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will operate and maintain the forklift safely and cost-effectively while providing customer service within the store.

Responsibilities include:

  • Operating the forklift safely
  • Loading customers’ purchases carefully and without unnecessary delays
  • Assisting customers with products and queries
  • Maintaining merchandising standards
  • Ensuring stock is arranged according to store layouts and planograms
  • Maintaining good housekeeping in the assigned area
  • Ensuring correct shelf-price labelling
  • Identifying and reporting stock display gaps or suspicious behaviour
  • Following loss-prevention and security procedures
  • Completing required forklift inspections and checklists
  • Reporting forklift faults immediately
  • Ensuring the forklift is serviced when required
  • Wearing required protective equipment
  • Following occupational health and safety requirements

Safety Requirements

The Forklift Driver must not overload the forklift or use it to lift personnel. The successful candidate must wear the required safety helmet and kidney belt while operating the forklift and must not operate equipment with mechanical faults.

The forklift must also be inspected daily, with the relevant checklist completed and faults reported.
