Job Description
The Commission for Gender Equality (CGE) is inviting applications from suitably qualified persons for its Internship Programmes.
The internships are offered on 24-month contracts, with opportunities in Policy & Research, Legal, Human Resource, Public Education & Information, and Monitoring and Evaluation. Monthly stipends range from R7,500 to R8,500, depending on the programme.

Available CGE Internship Programmes
1. Policy & Research Internship Programme
Contract: 24 Months
Stipend: R8,500 per month
Centre: Head Office, Johannesburg
Requirements:
- Master of Arts (MA) Degree qualification in the Social Sciences or another relevant Social Sciences discipline.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
- Readiness to travel extensively throughout the country to conduct research activities.
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
- Excellent analytical and report-writing skills.
- Must not have previously participated in an internship programme.
- Must be a South African citizen.
2. Legal Internship Programme
Contract: 24 Months
Stipend: R8,500 per month
Centre: Head Office, Johannesburg
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB), BA (Law), or BCom (Law).
- Excellent legal research and legal drafting skills.
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Must not have previously participated in an internship programme.
- Must be a South African citizen.
3. Human Resource Internship Programme
Contract: 24 Months
Stipend: R7,500 per month
Centre: Head Office, Johannesburg
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in Human Resource Management, Industrial Psychology, or an equivalent qualification.
- Knowledge and understanding of the BCEA, LRA, EEA, OHSA, and other labour-related Acts and regulations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Must not have previously participated in an internship programme.
- Must be a South African citizen.
4. Public Education & Information Internship Programme
Contract: 24 Months
Stipend: R7,500 per month
Centre: Pretoria, Gauteng
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in Social Sciences, Humanities, Gender Studies, Education, or equivalent.
- Computer Literacy.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including digital communication acumen.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Must not have previously participated in an internship programme.
- Must be a South African citizen.
5. Monitoring and Evaluation Internship Programme
Contract: 24 Months
Stipend: R7,500 per month
Centre: Head Office, Johannesburg
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) or Honours/Master’s degree in Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics, Public Administration, Administration, Public Management, Information Management, or Social Sciences.
- Computer Literacy.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Access, Excel, MS Project/Power BI, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Must not have previously participated in an internship programme.
- Must be a South African citizen.
General Internship Information
Successful candidates will be required to enter into an Internship Agreement with CGE for 24 months.
Interns will be responsible for their own transport to the office. There will be no obligation to employ the intern on completion of the Programme.
