Dispensary Support Apprenticeship / Learner Opportunity 2026
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is recruiting Dispensary Support Learners across multiple branches in South Africa. This programme is designed for individuals who want to become qualified Basic Pharmacist Assistants through structured workplace training and SAPC registration.
Successful candidates will be placed on a fixed-term contract until they complete their training and register with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
Purpose of the Role
- Train and develop future pharmacist assistants
- Assist pharmacists under direct supervision
- Support dispensary operations and stock control
- Deliver safe and accurate pharmaceutical services
- Gain practical workplace learning experience
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with dispensing and handling of medicines
- Interpret prescriptions under supervision
- Pack, label, and verify medication accurately
- Support stock control and expiry date management
- Assist with OTC and dispensary shelf organisation
- Provide patient support and basic health information
- Assist with chronic, HIV, and oncology medication processes
- Maintain compliance with SAPC regulations and SOPs
- Support call centre and patient follow-ups
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric (or Senior Certificate)
- Minimum 50% in Pure Mathematics, Life Sciences, and/or Physical Science
- Average of at least 50% overall
- Must pass proficiency test for SAPC learner registration

Advantageous
- Retail or FMCG experience
- Dis-Chem front shop experience
- Knowledge of SAP, Unisolv, E-Scripting systems

- Must be willing to work retail pharmacy hours
- Must pass SAPC learner registration requirements
- Must be willing to complete structured pharmacy training
