Job Description

DSV is recruiting a Logistics Engineer, Contract Logistics to join its team in Kempton Park, Gauteng.

This is a full-time opportunity for candidates with a Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering or another Engineering qualification and relevant experience within logistics, supply chain or warehousing.

The successful candidate will form part of a team responsible for designing, planning and implementing warehousing and production logistics solutions.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain or Industrial Engineering, or another Engineering qualification
  • Computer literacy
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills
  • Minimum 1 year’s experience in Logistics, Supply Chain, Warehousing or a related business environment
  • Unendorsed driver’s licence and own transport
  • Ability to travel around Gauteng, South Africa and internationally
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment
  • Ability to multitask
  • Effective problem-solving abilities

Experience with other Microsoft Office applications will be advantageous.

Main Purpose of the Role

The Logistics Engineer will form part of the team responsible for designing, planning and implementing warehousing and production logistics solutions.

The position supports DSV’s objectives by identifying, analysing and developing value-adding and robust solutions for current and prospective customers.

The role also supports Warehouse Management System implementations and acts as an interactive link between operations, clients and WMS suppliers or vendors.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will participate in WMS implementation projects and activities including:

  • Warehouse process analysis
  • Warehouse process optimisation
  • Process gap analysis
  • Implementation documentation creation
  • WMS modification design
  • Interface mapping
  • Data setup
  • Data build and loading

The Logistics Engineer will also participate in continuous improvement programmes by identifying and implementing improvements in operational and systemic areas.

Travel Requirements
