Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 or higher
• Firefighter I Course
• Hazmat Awareness
• First Aid Level 3
• Code EB Driver’s Licence
• Physically and mentally fit
• Medical Test NFPA 1582
• No criminal record
• 1 year operational experience

Skills, Knowledge & Competencies

• Knowledge of firefighting Standard Operating Procedures and policies
• Ability to execute firefighting duties under supervision
• Knowledge of:
  • Fire safety codes
  • Standards
  • Applicable bylaws
• Ability to identify fire safety risks
• Customer service orientation
• Interpersonal skills
• Communication skills

Key Responsibilities

Firefighting & Emergency Response

• Perform firefighting operational duties
• Identify fire risks and prevention measures
• Support emergency response activities within communities

Community & Service Delivery Support

• Deliver quality services to communities
• Present a professional image of the municipality
• Support municipal strategies aimed at improving service delivery
