1. Forestry Foreman: Woodlands and Indigenous Forest Management

Minimum Requirements

• ABET (NQF 3) or equivalent qualification
• No experience required
• Knowledge of propagation methods, record keeping and supervision
• Sound organising and planning skills
• Knowledge of operating a computer
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Interpersonal, problem-solving and numerical skills
• Ability to work under pressure and with limited supervision

Duties

The successful candidate will conduct production activities, allocate tasks to labourers, check seedlings and plants for pests and diseases, oversee harvesting activities, prepare fire breaks and maintain plantations and woodlots.

Other responsibilities include weed control, watering and fertilising plants, stocktaking and providing training and development to staff.

2. Handyman: Woodlands & Indigenous Forest Management

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 10 (NQF Level 2) or relevant equivalent qualification
• No experience required
• Valid driving licence
• Knowledge of minor maintenance
• General administration skills
• Knowledge of maintenance and equipment
• Basic finance principles and OHSA procedures
• Ability to work under pressure and resolve conflicts

Duties

The successful candidate will perform infrastructure maintenance, including cleaning and painting walls, roofs and ceilings, filling potholes, clearing road edges and fallen trees, watering plants and maintaining surrounding areas.

Other duties include rehabilitation of degraded forest areas, removal of alien plants, planting indigenous seedlings, preparing fire belts, firefighting, maintaining tools and managing woodlots.
