Job Overview

The Department of Water and Sanitation is recruiting a General Foreman (Electrical) for the Infrastructure Management: Central Operations Directorate at Gariep Dam.

This permanent entry-level supervisory position (Level 04) is responsible for the electrical maintenance of bulk water infrastructure and construction equipment. It is ideal for a reliable, hands-on individual with basic electrical maintenance knowledge.

Minimum Requirements

  • ABET Certificate (or equivalent)
  • 0 – 1 year experience in electrical maintenance
  • Valid unexpired driver’s licence will be an added advantage
  • Computer literacy is an added advantage

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Technical knowledge of electrical maintenance
  • Routine inspection of equipment
  • Policy implementation
  • Planning and organising skills
  • Conflict management
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS), PMDS, and PFMA
  • Disciplinary knowledge in public administration

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical maintenance on bulk water infrastructure and construction equipment
  • Conduct general routine inspections of electrical systems
  • Carry out routine maintenance tasks for bulk water supply systems
  • Perform repairs on minor electrical equipment
  • Keep job cards and maintenance records up to date
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and departmental policies
