Job Description

Handyman (REF NO: NAVAL/20/23/26/28) South African Navy Location: Naval Base Durban, KwaZulu-Natal Job Type: Permanent Salary: R170 226 – R200 523 per annum (Level 03)

Job Purpose To perform general cleaning, first-line building maintenance (fixtures, fittings, and plumbing systems), and grounds maintenance services to ensure a safe, functional, and well-maintained environment at Naval Base Durban.

Minimum Requirements

  • A minimum of ABET qualification
  • No experience required
  • Exposure in general building maintenance will be an advantage

Special Requirements (Skills Needed)

  • Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) in English
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet target dates
  • Supervising, planning, organising, and problem-solving skills (especially in a painting environment)
  • Sound knowledge of operating various building maintenance equipment and tools
  • Reasoning and ability to read and understand/interpreting job requirements from instructions and drawings
  • Knowledge of safety protocols

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform cleaning and first-line building maintenance (fixtures, fittings, and plumbing systems)
