Job Description
SPAR is inviting applications for an Inventory Controller position in Durban.
This is a permanent opportunity within the Manufacturing industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring, controlling and managing inventory-related activities within the warehouse, maintaining inventory accuracy, minimising shrinkage and ensuring operational compliance with SPAR BOPs.
Applicants must have a Matric certificate, relevant inventory department experience, knowledge of warehouse systems, computer literacy and SAP knowledge.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Matric certificate
- Relevant Inventory department experience
- Knowledge of warehouse systems – essential
- Computer literacy and SAP knowledge – essential
- Ability to function effectively within a team environment
- Willingness to work overtime and flexibility when required
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work unsupervised
- Methodical, proactive and accurate approach
- Sound leadership skills
A tertiary qualification in Logistics/Supply Chain will be advantageous.
Job Purpose
The Inventory Controller is responsible for effectively monitoring, controlling and managing all inventory-related activities within the warehouse.
The role focuses on:
- Maintaining inventory accuracy
- Minimising shrinkage
- Ensuring operational compliance with SPAR BOPs
- Supporting the efficient flow and management of stock
- Providing leadership to the department
- Monitoring performance
- Ensuring inventory processes are consistently maintained to required standards
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Lead and manage the department on a daily basis.
- Compile and analyse daily, weekly and monthly inventory reports.
- Ensure maximum space utilisation.
- Manage and monitor shrinkage by conducting stock checks and investigating lost and misallocated stock.
- Ensure damages are removed and adjusted timeously on the computer system.
- Monitor WIC and report on all cancelled lines daily, ensuring cancel line targets are achieved.
- Assist in all Inbound functions as and when required.
- Maintain housekeeping and ensure adherence to safety standards.
- Conduct daily green area meetings with staff.
- Manage staff performance through the ROI process.
- Maintain and conduct grievance and disciplinary procedures when required.
- Lead and manage warehouse stock-take as and when required.
- Facilitate team development through the TNA process.
- Monitor, analyse and effectively manage staff attendance and absenteeism.
- Process staff timecards on the computer system.
- Enforce Inventory policies and BOPs to ensure operational compliance.
- Monitor inventory accuracy and key performance indicators (KPIs).
