Role Summary

The Miner will support mining operations in the designated section(s), oversee blasting activities, supervise subordinates, ensure equipment/material availability, and drive production targets while strictly adhering to Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) standards and Gold One’s safety motto: “Nothing is so important that it cannot be done safely.”

This is a hands-on supervisory mining role in underground gold mining, focusing on trackless mining methods (TMM), conventional development, stoping, and hydropower drilling.

Minimum Requirements – Essential

  • Grade 10, 11, 12 or equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification
  • Valid Blasting Certificate for Metalliferous Mines
  • Minimum 2–3 years’ previous experience in Trackless Mining (TMM)
  • Experience in TMM, Conventional Development, Stoping, and Hydropower drilling
  • Proficiency in English (and any other of the 11 official South African languages advantageous)
  • South African Driver’s License (Code 08–10) – essential
  • South African Citizenship
  • Clear Criminal Record

Advantageous / Preferred

  • Mining Production Supervisor Certificate
  • Computer literacy

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support and implement best practices within the Mining Section(s)
  • Ensure all blasting activities in the area of responsibility are efficiently executed and controlled to achieve production goals and targets
  • Plan, supervise, and control subordinates on both stoping and development ends
  • Ensure availability of equipment and materials to optimise production
  • Adhere to MHSA regulations and Gold One’s safety standards at all times
