RCL FOODS is seeking an Electrician to join the Baking Division. The role will be based in Pretoria West and reports to the Maintenance Manager.

Purpose of the Role

Responsible for maintaining or constructing industrial machinery.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

• Matric
• N3 in Electrical Engineering
• Qualified Electrician

Duties & Responsibilities

• Ensure efficient and cost-effective maintenance of all electrical equipment.
• Be proactive in identifying potential faults and breakdowns before they occur.
• Ensure all breakdowns are attended to in a cost-effective and fast manner.
• Ensure the continued good condition of all equipment in the production facilities.
• Ensure necessary spare equipment and instruments are maintained in the maintenance D-store.
• Prevent repeated failures and breakdowns.
• Implement preventative actions and maintenance to reduce breakdowns.
• Installation, maintenance, service and repair of electrical/electronic networks and equipment within the production facilities.
• Advanced fault finding on electrical circuits.
• Ensure machine availability by minimising downtime.
• Attend to breakdowns, fault finding and rectification.
• Perform planned and preventative maintenance on all electrical installations and equipment.
• Ensure all MV and LV substations are maintained and kept in order with SANS standards.
• Ensure compliance with SANS 10142 wiring regulations.
• Ensure compliance with SANS 10108 hazardous location regulations.
• Ensure compliance with the work permit/lockout system in use at RCL Foods Consumer division.
• Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and safety regulations.
• Ensure all safety devices on equipment are in place and working at all times.
• Maintain knowledge of and compliance with SHEQ legislation and regulations.
• Adhere to food safety, occupational health and safety, environmental and other risk management requirements as per the OHS Act and COID Act.
• Ensure efficient and cost-effective maintenance of all instrumentation equipment.
• Be proactive in identifying potential instrumentation faults and breakdowns.
• Maintain necessary spare instruments in the maintenance D-store.

HMI’s, PLCs and SCADA Systems

• Ensure efficient and cost-effective maintenance of all soft PLC hardware.
• Be capable of programming small changes and requirements to PLCs and SCADA systems.
• Proactively identify potential faults and breakdowns.
• Ensure breakdowns are attended to efficiently.
• Ensure the continued good condition of all equipment.
• Ensure new small-scale projects, changes and modifications are implemented according to the requirements of the Plant Engineer/Engineering Manager.
• Implement projects in the shortest period without financial loss to the company.
• Ensure successful implementation and testing of small-scale projects.
• Ensure the correct devices, machinery and software applications are installed for the correct processes.
