Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • A Senior/Grade 12 certificate or relevant qualification.

Applicants should also have knowledge of:

  • Human Resources functions and practices.
  • Data capturing, computer operations and administrative statistics.
  • Basic Human Resources prescripts.
  • Basic financial operating systems (PERSAL).
  • Registry duties and practices.
  • Legislative framework governing the Public Service.
  • Storage and retrieval procedures.
  • Registry working procedures.

Duties

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide counter services and attend to clients.
  • Handle telephone and other enquiries.
  • Receive and register hand-delivered mail and files.
  • Receive, sort, register and dispatch incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Open and close files according to the record classification system.
  • File, store, trace and retrieve documents and files.
  • Complete index cards for files.
  • Operate office machines relating to registry functions.
  • Maintain the franking machine and remittance registers.
  • Process documents for archiving and disposal.
  • Electronically scan files.
  • Sort and package files for archives and distribution.
  • Maintain records of archived documents.
