Department: South African Police Service (SAPS)
Position: Security Officer
Number of Posts: X18 Posts
Salary: R170 226 per annum (Level 03)

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be a South African citizen.
  • Be proficient in English and at least one other official language.
  • Possess a Grade 10 / Standard 8 / NCV Level 2 qualification or equivalent (NQF Level 2 recognised by SAQA).
  • Be registered with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA).
  • Possess a minimum Grade C Security Certificate or higher.
  • Not be declared unfit to possess a firearm.
  • Be willing to undergo firearm competency training and maintain firearm competency.
  • Be willing to work shifts and extended hours.

The following will serve as an added advantage:

  • Relevant security-related qualifications or courses.
  • A valid driver’s licence for a light motor vehicle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform access control in accordance with the Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicles Act.
  • Verify the identity of employees, visitors and contractors.
  • Register employees, visitors and contractors.
  • Conduct electronic searches where required.
  • Issue and control visitor admission cards.
  • Maintain visitor registers.
  • Inspect suppliers, goods and equipment entering the premises.
  • Patrol buildings and secured areas.
  • Guard government vehicles and equipment from a security perspective.
  • Inspect security equipment and report faults.
  • Report security risks, deficiencies and incidents to senior security personnel.

Salary
