Department: South African Police Service (SAPS)
Position: Security Officer
Number of Posts: X18 Posts
Salary: R170 226 per annum (Level 03)

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Be proficient in English and at least one other official language.
- Possess a Grade 10 / Standard 8 / NCV Level 2 qualification or equivalent (NQF Level 2 recognised by SAQA).
- Be registered with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA).
- Possess a minimum Grade C Security Certificate or higher.
- Not be declared unfit to possess a firearm.
- Be willing to undergo firearm competency training and maintain firearm competency.
- Be willing to work shifts and extended hours.
The following will serve as an added advantage:
- Relevant security-related qualifications or courses.
- A valid driver’s licence for a light motor vehicle.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform access control in accordance with the Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicles Act.
- Verify the identity of employees, visitors and contractors.
- Register employees, visitors and contractors.
- Conduct electronic searches where required.
- Issue and control visitor admission cards.
- Maintain visitor registers.
- Inspect suppliers, goods and equipment entering the premises.
- Patrol buildings and secured areas.
- Guard government vehicles and equipment from a security perspective.
- Inspect security equipment and report faults.
- Report security risks, deficiencies and incidents to senior security personnel.
Salary
