About the PRASA Security Officer Role PRASA is recruiting Security Officers to safeguard passengers, staff, assets, and rail infrastructure across its network.

This is a vital frontline role responsible for maintaining safety and security at stations, depots, trains, and facilities. It is ideal for disciplined, alert individuals with PSIRA registration who are committed to protecting South Africa’s public rail system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide visible security presence at stations, platforms, and facilities
  • Conduct access control, patrolling, and crowd management
  • Respond to incidents, emergencies, and security threats
  • Monitor CCTV and security systems
  • Enforce PRASA security policies and procedures
  • Assist with passenger safety and conflict resolution
  • Report all incidents and suspicious activities
  • Work closely with SAPS, Metro Police, and other law enforcement agencies

Requirements

  • Grade 10
  • Valid PSIRA Grade C (or higher) registration
  • Minimum 1–2 years security experience (rail or public transport advantageous)
  • Valid driver’s licence (Code B/EB) with PDP (advantageous)
  • Physically fit and able to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • No criminal record
