Job Description

The Department of Home Affairs (DHA) is inviting suitably qualified candidates to apply for Senior Administrative Officer (X2 Posts) vacancies. These permanent government positions offer an annual salary of R413,001 – R486,501 (Salary Level 8) and are based in Tshwane (Head Office) and Gqeberha, Eastern Cape.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • An undergraduate qualification (NQF Level 6) recognized by SAQA in one of the following:
    • Office Management and Technology
    • Business Management
    • Administration Management
    • Public Administration
    • Public Management
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as an Administrative Officer or Chief Administration Clerk.
  • Knowledge of:
    • National Treasury Regulations
    • Public Finance Management Act (PFMA)
    • Public Service Regulatory Framework
    • Supply Chain Management
    • Human Resource Regulatory Framework
    • Departmental legislation and prescripts
    • Filing systems and records management
  • Computer literacy.
  • Strong communication, planning, organizational and administrative skills.
  • A valid driver’s licence will be an added advantage.
  • Willingness to travel and work extended hours when required.

Key Duties

Successful candidates will be responsible for:

  • Providing administrative support to the unit.
  • Managing office correspondence, reports, submissions and official documents.
  • Maintaining filing and records management systems.
  • Preparing financial and administrative reports.
  • Assisting with budget and cash flow projections.
  • Coordinating meetings and serving as secretary during meetings.
  • Processing travel, accommodation and subsistence claims.
  • Monitoring deadlines and workflow.
  • Processing claims, invoices and consultant payments.
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Supporting risk management and compliance.
  • Managing office resources efficiently.
  • Coaching and guiding staff on administrative best practices.
