Job Overview

Sibanye-Stillwater is recruiting five Supervisor Health and Safety UG C4 positions within its Gold Operations in the Free State. Successful candidates will be responsible for underground health and safety management, risk assessment, compliance monitoring, reporting, and promoting a strong safety culture throughout mining operations.


Minimum Requirements

Applicants must possess:

  • Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate (NQF Level 4)
  • National Certificate Level 4 in Manufacturing, Engineering and Technology or related field
  • English literacy
  • Blasting Ticket (Underground Mining) or
  • Relevant Engineering Trade Qualification
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Risk and Safety Management
  • Administration experience within mining, services or processing environments
  • Medically fit
  • Clear security screening record
  • Clear credit record
  • Valid driver’s licence (where applicable)

Added Advantages

  • NQF Level 5 Qualification in Risk Management
  • Fundamentals of Risk Management (IRCA)
  • Risk Assessment Techniques and Facilitation (Train the Trainer)

Key Responsibilities

Health and Safety Management

  • Monitor compliance with SHE standards
  • Participate in risk assessments and investigations
  • Promote a strong safety culture underground
  • Ensure compliance with mining safety legislation and company policies

Risk Management

  • Analyse health and safety reports
  • Monitor operational risk indicators
  • Recommend corrective actions to management
  • Assist with risk reduction initiatives

Reporting and Administration

  • Gather, analyse and interpret health and safety data
  • Compile management reports
  • Present findings and recommendations
  • Maintain departmental records and documentation

Policy and Compliance

  • Assist with updates of policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with Quality Management Systems (QMS)
  • Support ESG and responsible mining initiatives

Team Leadership

  • Coach and mentor employees
  • Support staff development programmes
  • Manage team performance
  • Promote operational excellence and safe production
