Job Overview

The Team Lead Supply Chain (SC) Planner drives the execution of strategic and operational plans within the planning team to achieve business objectives. This role involves managing operational planning teams, ensuring adherence to standardized processes and tools, monitoring KPIs for availability, sales, and working capital, and fostering effective cross-functional communication. The Team Lead Planner also supports sales strategy execution and trade plans across the business.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Sales & Promotional Planning

  • Ensure compliance with T-planning processes including Promotion, Event, and New Product Development forecasting.
  • Align with commercial buyers on forecasted volumes at T-4 before confirming with vendors for focus lines.
  • Collaborate with commercial buyers to achieve growth targets and sales objectives within business limitations.
  • Monitor pending price increases, stock buy-ins, and clearance plans; initiate additional promotional activities if required.
  • Understand sales trends of seasonal lines to inform planning decisions.

Daily & Strategic Operational Execution

  • Maintain a personal portfolio of accounts in a Supply Chain Planner capacity.
  • Ensure the use of standardized planning and reporting tools across the team for accurate replenishment and promotion execution.
  • Implement solutions to proactively reduce or avoid returns to DC or vendors.
  • Track category availability and highlight risks to the business, including promotional items.

Continuous Improvement & Standardization

  • Provide input and suggestions on process improvements and planning methods.
  • Implement new processes, tools, and reports successfully within teams.
  • Drive the consistent use of standardized planning processes, tools, and reports.
  • Clearly communicate the operating plan and ensure team compliance.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Vendors, Commercial teams, DC & Logistics, and Operating Division coordinators.
  • Collaborate to create accurate, realistic sales plans reflecting business, category, and promotional strategies.
  • Proactively address poor strike rates with vendors and commercial teams to mitigate risks.
  • Be available after hours for emergency queries and risk mitigation.

Team Leadership & People Development

  • Provide clear guidance and support for team execution of responsibilities.
  • Identify training opportunities through observation and team consultation.
  • Lead by example in professionalism, office conduct, and adherence to regulations.

Minimum Requirements

  • 2+ years of supply chain planning experience.
  • Knowledge of DC and store operations/limitations.
  • Understanding of category processes and procedures.
  • Sound knowledge of business/system rules for planning teams.
  • Experience in cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
