Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

• NQF Level 3 qualification (Grade 10 certificate)
• At least 1 year of relevant work experience
• Valid Code C1 driver’s licence

Required Knowledge

Candidates should have knowledge of:

• Establishment of pastures
• Planting and cultivation of crops
• Mixing and application rates for herbicides and pesticides
• Calibration of planters and crop sprayers
• Maintenance and repair of farm equipment and infrastructure

Required Skills

Applicants must be able to:

• Operate a tractor and farming implements
• Operate specialised machinery such as TLBs and bulldozers
• Plant and harvest crops
• Perform road maintenance activities

Duties and Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be responsible for:

• Operating tractors with farming implements such as ploughs, rippers, planters and crop sprayers
• Assisting with land cultivation, tillage, planting and harvesting
• Transporting goods and materials
• Conducting fire-fighting and fencing activities
• Maintaining roads and firebreaks
• Operating specialised machinery including harvesters, drilling equipment and excavators
• Performing routine vehicle and implement maintenance
• Keeping monthly kilometre and maintenance logbooks
• Reporting defects to the mechanical workshop
• Assisting with fuel and oil dispensing
