Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) is inviting unemployed South African graduates between the ages of 18 and 35 to apply for its Health & Safety Internship Programme. This internship offers successful candidates an opportunity to gain practical workplace experience through structured on-the-job training and mentorship within one of South Africa’s leading freight rail organizations.

The programme is designed to enhance employability by providing graduates with valuable industry exposure, hands-on experience, and professional development opportunities in the field of Health and Safety.

Position Purpose

The internship programme aims to provide practical workplace experience to students and recent graduates who have completed their theoretical studies. Participants will receive both institutional knowledge and practical exposure to workplace operations, helping them bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements.

Successful candidates will be placed in various operational environments and departments within Transnet Freight Rail.

Work Exposure Areas

Successful candidates may be placed in the following locations:

  • Sishen
  • Saldanha
  • Durban

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be South African citizens
  • Be between the ages of 18 and 35
  • Have completed theoretical training at a registered TVET College or Higher Education Institution
  • Have no bursary obligations
  • Have no prior work experience in their field of study
  • Hold a qualification or statement of results in Health & Safety

  • Certified copy of Health & Safety qualification or statement of results
  • Stamped letter from institution requesting in-service training (where applicable)
