What You’ll Do
As a Cleaner, you’ll ensure a hygienic and safe environment to support patient care and staff operations. Responsibilities vary slightly by location but generally include:
- Touwsranten CC:
- General cleaning (sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, dusting, polishing, refuse removal, cleaning windows and grounds).
- Efficient use and storage of cleaning materials and equipment.
- Adhering to safety and occupational health policies.
- Maintaining high standards of neatness and hygiene.
- Supporting supervisors and colleagues with housekeeping tasks.
- Lapa Munnik Hospital:
- Providing effective, efficient, and safe hygiene and domestic services in the Nursing Component.
- Supporting the Household Supervisor with domestic responsibilities.
- Ensuring proper use and maintenance of equipment.
- Adhering to loyal service ethics.
- Performing relief duties in other departments as needed.
- Hermanus CDC:
- Maintaining a neat and hygienic environment per daily, weekly, quarterly, and six-monthly schedules (per IPC Policy).
- Proper handling and disposal of waste according to protocols.
- Cost-effective use of cleaning supplies and equipment.
- Supporting outreach programs and campaigns.
- Ensuring cleaning equipment is maintained.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking candidates with:
- Minimum Qualifications: Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
- Experience:
- Touwsranten CC: Appropriate cleaning experience in a health environment.
- Lapa Munnik Hospital: Appropriate cleaning experience.
- Hermanus CDC: Appropriate cleaning experience in a hospital, clinic, or hospitality environment.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move heavy objects and supplies.
- Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written).
- Knowledge of proper waste handling, disposal, and cleaning procedures.
- Ability to operate cleaning machinery and equipment.
- Additional Requirements (where applicable):
- Lapa Munnik Hospital: Willingness to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, overtime, and night duty.
- Hermanus CDC: Ability to perform relief duties in other departments.
