Minimum Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be a South African citizen.
  • Be able to communicate in English and at least one other official South African language.
  • Have a Grade 10 (Standard 8/NCV Level 2/NQF Level 2) qualification recognised by SAQA.
  • Be registered with PSIRA.
  • Possess a Grade C Security Certificate or higher.
  • Not be declared unfit to possess a firearm.
  • Be willing to complete and maintain firearm competency training.
  • Be willing to work shifts, weekends, public holidays and extended hours.

Added Advantages

  • A valid light motor vehicle driver’s licence.
  • Security-related qualifications or training.
  • Previous experience in the security industry.

Knowledge and Skills Required

Successful applicants should have knowledge of:

  • Access control procedures.
  • Security policies and procedures.
  • Movement and control of equipment.
  • Emergency response procedures.
  • Protection of Information legislation.
  • National security procedures.
  • Monitoring security equipment.
  • Maintaining secure government facilities.

Main Duties

Successful candidates will be responsible for:

  • Controlling access to government premises.
  • Verifying employees, visitors and contractors.
  • Issuing and collecting visitor access cards.
  • Maintaining visitor registers.
  • Searching vehicles, equipment and goods entering premises.
  • Monitoring vehicle access.
  • Patrolling buildings and secured areas.
  • Guarding workshops, vehicles and government property.
  • Monitoring security equipment.
  • Reporting security risks and incidents.
  • Assisting senior security personnel with daily operations.
  • Supervising cleaning and maintenance staff from a security perspective.

Salary

Successful applicants will receive:

R170,226 per annum (Salary Level 3)

This excludes other government employment benefits that may apply.
