Job Purpose
The TMPD is seeking individuals committed to serving the community by pursuing a career in metro policing. Successful candidates will undergo a comprehensive training programme and, upon completion, serve as functional metro police officials. Their primary duties will include:
- Enforcing the National Road Traffic Act, 1996 (Act 93 of 1996)
- Policing municipal by-laws and regulations
- Preventing crime within the City of Tshwane
Application Requirements
To be eligible for this exciting opportunity, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: Grade 12 qualification (submit documentary proof).
- Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license for a manual transmission vehicle and ability to pass a departmental practical driving test.
- Criminal Record: No criminal record or pending criminal cases. Applicants must allow their fingerprints to be taken by TMPD at their own cost.
- Background Check: Applicants listed on the register for sexual and child offenders or dismissed from government due to misconduct will not be considered.
- Citizenship and Residency: Must be a South African citizen and a resident of the City of Tshwane metropolitan area (provide proof of residence and an affidavit if the surname differs from the registered owner).
- Age: Between 18 and 35 years old.
- Medical Fitness: Must be medically fit as per occupational health procedures and submit a medical certificate confirming ability to perform strenuous exercise.
- Physical Fitness: Must complete a physical fitness evaluation and assessment.
- Psychometric Assessment: Willing to undergo and pass a psychometric assessment.
- Language Proficiency: Proficient in English and able to pass an assessment.
- Firearms Competency: Not declared incompetent to possess a firearm under Sections 102, 103, or 104 of the Firearms Control Act, 2000 (Act 60 of 2000).
- Appearance: No visible tattoo marks when wearing any TMPD uniform.
- Code of Conduct: Prepared to sign the TMPD code of conduct.
